Kilnsey Village Hall is available for hire!...Read more

There is always something going on in this beautiful part of the world, with the major events including the annual agricultural show Kilnsey Show, held on the Tuesday after August Bank Holiday, which is organised and run by the Upper Wharfedale Agricultural Society. The Society, founded in 1897, has developed the show, which takes place in the shadow of the famous Kilnsey Crag, into one of the country's largest and most successful one-day agricultural shows.

The show, which includes an 8-minute fell race to the top of Kilnsey Crag and return, has generally replaced the old 'Kilnsey Feast' and the two autumn sheep sales which existed earlier in the 19th century.

For those interested in classical and light music, comedy and more thought provoking evenings there is also the annual Grassington Festival, held for a fortnight in late June each year. This festival has now become internationally recognised for the caliber of the artistes which it attracts.

The Grassington Dickensian Festival, held on three consecutive Saturdays in late November/early December in the run up to Christmas, provides a unique experience with street entertainment, side shows and a multitude of stalls which draws thousands of visitors from all over the country year after year.

Look out here for up to date news of the monthly Grassington Farmers' Market, Women's Institute meetings, The Upper Wharfedale Field Society (UWFS) meetings, The Upper Wharfedale Heritage Group (UWHG) meetings, church services as well as walking, climbing and other outdoor activities in and around Kilnsey and Conistone in Upper Wharfedale.

To support the book, several Kilnsey Heritage Trail days have been organised. There is one hill, but itherwise the going is easy. Local history is discussed while enjoyig a walk in the Kilnsey countryside. Stout footwear and warm, waterproof clothing are essential.

The dates for the trails are as follows: Wednesday 8th February, Saturday 18th February, Saturday 17th March and Saturday 28th April (All dates are subject to weather conditions - The winter months are chosen for the trail as the vegetation is low and more landscape features can be seen)
